New Fan Art Imagines Tom Holland In Into The Spider-Verse Universe
There were a LOT of Spider-heroes in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, most notably with the introduction of Miles Morales to the big screen, but what about good 'ol Tom Holland's Peter Parker? Yes, he's technically dust thanks to Thanos' snap in Infinity War, but we all know he'll live to see another day, thanks to this summer's release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. If you were dreaming of seeing Tom Holland in Into the Spider-Verse, look no further then this amazing fan art of the actor looking scruffy and brooding as the Peter Parker introduced to audiences in the animated flick. Take a look:
The fresh-faced Tom Holland that we know and love has grown a beard, found himself a brown jacket and messed his hair a bit in the art Boss Logic recently shared on Twitter. The image borrows from Into the Spider-Verse's incredibly artsy animation style that often mixed blue and red lighting in perhaps the coolest iteration of the comic book hero yet.
The Peter Parker in Into the Spider-Verse wasn't exactly Tom Holland's because when we meet him, he has been Spider-Man for 22 years. The seasoned hero was probably in his 40s and had already fallen in love with Mary Jane, saved the city more times than he could count, buried Aunt May and signed divorce papers. When he got sucked into another Spider-Verse, he was chowing down pizzas and feeling sorry for himself.
For the MCU hero, the name MJ has only just blinked on his radar and most of his hero work has been with the help of the Avengers. Into the Spider-Verse actually felt like it was closer to Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, as it featured scenes modeled from the past trilogy, such as one iconic upside-down kiss.
Into the Spider-Verse co-director Rodney Rothman even admitted that they thought about casting Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker for the animated film, but decided against it to not confuse audiences.
Strangely enough, it makes less sense for the current live-action Spider-Man to have voiced the role in Into the Spider-Verse because he just has the voice of the bright and bushy-tailed Spider-Man that maybe the character in Spider-Verse once was, but is not in the release.
I found it to be really smart to introduce Peter Parker as the one we know, but older because it doesn't allow room for any comparisons with Tom Holland. Yes, we can still think of him a bit as the younger version of Jake Johnson's iteration, but it's pretty cool to have two timelines of the same character who each bring their own spin and are presented in different mediums and from different studios.
Since were dealing with a multi-verse of Spider-heroes, who knows, Tom Holland could join someday this animated realm too.
Sony Pictures' first animated Spider-Man film has become a massive success, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse expanding the canon in the new and exciting ways. The movie included many different classic Marvel villains. But we did not see the symbiote suit or a variation of Venom. Recently, a piece of fan art from BossLogic imagines […]
