An Unexpected Marvel Location Just Got Confirmed For Avengers: Infinity War
With others failing to obtain Infinity Stones on his behalf, Thanos has finally decided to get off his space chair and do the job himself. It's no secret that when the Mad Titan, the Black Order and his monstrous hordes finally arrive on Earth in Avengers: Infinity War, there will be widespread destruction. Thanos wouldn't be much of a warlord if he didn't ensure that. However, the Infinity War footage has shown that the movie's action won't just be limited to Earth, and we've now learned that one of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe locations we'll visit is Titan, Thanos' homeworld.
Along with providing a photo of Thanos using his two Infinity Stones to pull a moon out of its orbit, EW confirmed with Marvel that the ruined planet seen in the Avengers: Infinity War teaser trailer is not Xandar, home of the Nova Corps and current resting place of the Power Stone, as some fans have speculated, but actually Titan. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also revealed that in the MCU, Titan is no longer inhabited, and having seen everything on it go extinct, Thanos has vowed never to let that happen again, hence why he wants to take control of the universe. Titan already doesn't look like a fun place, but it's about to look even worse, because as shown in last year's D23 footage, Thanos launches that moon at the Marvel heroes engaging him. Thanos wouldn't have been able to pull that off with own natural abilities, but with the Space and Power Stones at his disposal, it's a relatively easy feat.
Working only off of the Avengers: Infinity War footage that's been released so far, we know that Iron Man and Spider-Man will find their way to Titan during the movie, and needless to say things will not go well for them. The teaser trailer showed Thanos punching the armored Tony Stark square in the face, and out of his armor, the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist looked dejected and defeated. While it's reasonable to assume that most, if not all, of the MCU heroes will make it off Titan alive, I suspect once that moon comes crashing to the ground, the planet will go from being a post-apocalyptic wasteland to completely fractured..
Primarily through the Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Marvel has been building the cosmic corners of the MCU, and Avengers: Infinity War will keep that going through Titan and wherever Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy end up visiting. However, Earth will still be a key battleground in Infinity War, as New York City and Wakanda will be two of the areas Thanos' minions attack. Nevertheless, with next year's Avengers 4 picking up where Infinity War leaves off, don't be surprised if other new planets are introduced to help expand the MCU's cosmic realm for Phase 4.
